Amps ll Eleven – “Gas Ass Or Grass”

This is some dirty ass hipster-proof Cleveland rock stuff I came up on. Think… Fu Manchu with a lazy Danzig on vocals, meaning he has little range. Its pretty sick though. Get it here for free!

The New Sound of Berkeley Grime

Grimer – “Lizard King”

So, if you’re honest about your music scene, you’ll admit that the bay area has been in a dryspell for a few years- as far as younger groups go. There was a tremendous rush of nostalgic retro 80s Harcore/Speed metal kids over the last 7 years, both worlds of which are still beating their dead horses.

So what is the next decade gonna bring? A throwback to the 90s?? I don’t think so. Because the 90’s sucked a lot of ass for music IMO.

So this is the new school. The filth, dirt, grime, groove for those kids spending the night at Alta Bates as we all apparently have due to bad acid.

Grimer is a three piece from Berkeley consisting of Drake (also of Survival) on bass/vox, Nick on guitars and Gabe on skins.

Attitude Re-Adjustment

Attitude Adjustment – “Out of Hand”

Attitude Adjustment. Well known for ripping up the bay in the heyday of crossover thrash. Less known for the “Out of Hand” record. Rare, out of print, hard to find, all of the above, this showcased AA’s at their heaviest. Like, Poison Idea gone Exodus or something.

Thrash Metal Ghetto

Evildead – “The ‘Hood”

Evildead was not a movie. It was a band. In fact, not opinion, it was one of sickest thrash metal groups the bay area crunched out toward the late 80s alongside Vio-lence, Forbidden, and Defiance in what was a second wave of nitty-gritty, tweaker speed metal lunatics from the wrong side of the tracks.

The band featured songwriter/guitarist Juan Garcia, also of Abattoir and Agent Steel status. Annihilation of Civilization was the classic album, but The Underworld was a lesser known follow up EP.

Now, in 2010, Evildead are doing a little huge reunion show in LA at the annual Thrasho De Mayo, which last year showcased an Exhumer reunion.
