Black Tusk is Savannah GA swamp metal. Sludgy stoner hardcore would be a good classification. Not downtempo however, this is pretty raging. Out now on Relapse Records.
Diamond Head. Everyone can say “they influenced so and so, who influenced so and so, etc.” Diamond Head was like a turning point in the history of heavy. In the chain-link of influence-to-influence, their brand of heavy was only a Megadeth away from an entire decade worth of Metalheads. Their sphere of influence as an English band affected millions of American Metalheads and kickstarted millions more spheres of influence. This is not imperialism. This is Diamond Head. So, Birdman records is/was essentially a simplistic indie label brainchild of Warner Bros. Records A&R vice-president David Katznelson. Without much support to around for even the most profitable group on the roster, Apache, they’re parting ways and it has become obvious that this indie’s going under.
Apache’s on the up though, switching over to Burger Records for their next release, also putting up a weirdo video for their song “Hospital Bed” up. It features vocalist Omar bedridden from a recent, actual, I might add, hospital visit.
Brian Posehn is the metal community’s proud comical ambassador for the modern day. He’s a hilarious dude that could actually be found at shows such as Thrash of the Titans nearly a decade ago and countless other bay area metal gigs. He’s funny because he’s true – just like this song title.
