The “Grim Rhythm” EP, from Milwuakee WI’s Expire, is a punch in the face of some new abrasive metallic sounds. Kind of reminds me of Crowbar ….kind of reminds me of Terror, but in a good way…. its definitely a reflection of this progression hardcore has taken into chaotic caukopghony darkness over the last 5 years…can you say Trash Talk?
Oh and note the totally unique cover choice- out on Hellfish Records, download here.
Here’s one from the Arnold-inspired bay-native skate punk fools Arnocorps. If you’ve ever seen them live, they look straight out of Predator or Commando or something.
Not the punk band from Holland. NYHC. And a blueprint for that style at that. I wouldn’t call them obscure, but lesser known of the millions of bands during the influential era of Hardcore. And it stands out in that cesspool, so there you go. Download the classic “Got Me On the Line” here for free.
So everyone knows Chris Poland of Megadeth fame. He was the amazing REAL lead shredder on Killing, Peace then on the three song Rust In Peace demo, then on the Megadeth Comeback album The System Has Failed in 2004. Come to think of it, if it wasn’t for Chris Poland’s credit on that, I’m not so sure if anyone really would’ve given a shit what Megadeth did at that point in time (oh wait, there was still that beautifully immortal Some Kind of Monster Dave-Lars scene which probably rehashed some 80s energy for a minute there).
Ok, well, hating aside…. Chris Poland is one of my favorite guitar players. Period. He’s Amazing.
Its also well known that the deth song “Liar” was written about this once-super-fucked doper. We’re talking about an ex-human-heroin-baggie.
Anyway, Ohm released their third album “Circus of Sound” not too long ago and its just as amazing as would be expected (my fav is still the first though)
I might put up some of Chris Poland’s more metal solo stuff here later. Download “Pan’s Plan” here for free. Peace. Official Myspace
