Koro – “It’s OK”

The first wave of American Hardcore. It was great. It was then. Having acknowledged that, I brushed up on a free track this morning from Tennessee’s Koro, who, like many influential fuck-ups of said movement, only existed for a few years and are ultimately highly obscure. They shared the same kind of style as maybe Poison Idea or Deep Wound.

Early Man – “Evil Is”
Early Man – “Death is the Answer”

So check this out, there were these kids from Ohio who, until they were 19 years old, were restricted from any Metal, Sex or Dope by their Pentecostal Christian parents. Anyway, they started this band Early Man, and after the message sunk in, and after being on a couple different indie labels, they copped this deal with The End records. But their ‘08 album was produced by Soundgarden/Nirvana engineer Jack Endino, so the overall sound is a surprisingly awesome blend of NWOBHM style with grunge.

Like, Megadeth + Mercyful Fate + a lil Mudhoney vibe… I mean, sorta….
