Cro Mags – "Death Camp" (play/download)

Cro-Mags: Hardcore legends
The Age of Quarrel being one of hardcore’s archetypes for aggression. The less popular followup album, Best Wishes, 1989 Profile Records, features bassist/cofounder Harley on Vocals instead of the classic frontman John Joseph. Also note the more crossover/thrashy style….. heres the first track off Best Wishes

Laaz Rockit- BRAIN WASH

If you can remember back to 2004, Exodus came back hard after a good many years w/o any releases…..

The Bay Area and furthermore, the entire metal world, was blown away at what a great release it was.

Now, last year, Laaz Rockit did the same thing. They recognized that there was still a market for heavy metal music and put out another FUCKING RIDICULOUS GUT RIPPING BAY AREA THRASH RECORD…. in 2008??!!

MASTER- In Control- Slaves to Society

So, Paul Speckmann’s MASTER may be the most overlooked death metal pioneer of the last 2 decades. The classic was of course 1992’s On the Seventh Day… God Created Master.

Over the last few years however, the Master monicker has made some new releases on Twilight Vertrieb… taking on more of a death/thrash metal sound than his uniquely captivating… n fuckin trippy death metal compositions.

download “In Control” off 2007’s Slaves to Society

To Compare w/the classic MASTER brand of death metal (a downtuned psychadelic fusion of thrash, punk and spiritual entropy), just youtube the classic:

Disfear- The Horns…

Disfear is one of the few surviving modern punk/metal outfits to actually evolve the style and achieve international recognition. Swedish…. been around since mid 90s….. think Motorhead+Doom+At The gates(vocal influence only)

The Horns, from 2003’s Misanthropic Generation, Relapse Records
